Ecotherapy

Ecotherapy is a holistic, nature-based form of psychotherapy which reinforces the mind-body connection and the importance of nature and movement as a means to foster growth and healing. It involves integrating outdoor experiences and nature-based activities into the therapeutic process to support mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Ecotherapy sessions may include outdoor walks, mindfulness exercises, or simply reflecting in nature - and can be expected to be low-impact without vigorous physical activity.

The natural environment provides a unique space to explore feelings and thoughts away from daily stressors. By stepping outside, clients often find it easier to gain new perspectives, connect with their inner selves, and feel more at ease discussing challenges. Ecotherapy sessions can be tailored to individuals, couples, or groups and can also complement traditional therapy modalities.

This intentional and applied practice of therapy enhances general wellbeing, fosters a sense of grounding and balance and boosts overall mood by allowing us to disconnect from the technology-driven world and reconnect to the natural world around us. Research shows the profound benefits that movement and nature have on our mental and physical health, including:

  • Reduced levels of stress, anxiety and depression

  • Increased regulation

  • Increased creativity

  • Improved mood

  • Helps restore balance

  • Enhanced self-awareness
